JER Formula
A higher JER means more joy relative to challenges. When your JER reaches 5 or higher, you become a **Joy Reactor**—someone whose joy is self-sustaining and contagious.
Examples: meaningful conversations, moments of laughter, creative breakthroughs, student successes, time in nature, exercise, hobbies, acts of kindness received or given
Examples: difficult meetings, student behavior issues, administrative burdens, interpersonal conflicts, health concerns, financial stress, sleep deprivation, overwhelming workload
Understanding JER Ranges
You are a **joy generator**. Your joy is self-sustaining and radiates outward, creating joy in others through emotional contagion. You are a catalyst for transformation.
Neurochemistry: High dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, endorphins, and anandamide. Your brain is optimized for creativity, connection, and resilience.
Your life has **significantly more joys than challenges**. You experience frequent positive emotions and are building toward becoming a Joy Reactor.
Neurochemistry: Elevated positive neurochemicals with occasional stress responses. You are in a growth zone.
Your joys and challenges are **roughly equal**. You have a foundation to build upon—focus on increasing joys and reducing challenges.
Neurochemistry: Mixed neurochemical profile with both stress and reward pathways active. You are at a tipping point.
Your challenges **currently outweigh your joys**. This is a call to action—prioritize joy restoration through the ABCs framework and community support.
Neurochemistry: Elevated cortisol and adrenaline with depleted positive neurochemicals. You are in cellular depletion and need urgent intervention.
